About Me

Hello My name is Alan Holloway

I began drawing at the age of 4, usually planes and trains then cars and still life. Moving on to landscapes and starting to paint, firstly in oils then changing to watercolour when aged about 25, which proved quite a challenge as the transparent watercolours were so different to the opacity of the oil colours.

At the age of 17, I began travelling the world. Turkey was the first destination. After that a few years later I took the hippie trail to Australia, but only got as far as Singapore. Two years back home to save for the Big Trip, Australia, New Zealand and finally Papua New Guinea. It was here that I developed deep tonal use of paint especially in Tropical Sunsets.

Now, settled into rural North Herefordshire in the village of Eardisland. One of England's treasures with the pretty Black & White timber framed buildings and the River Arrow flowing quietly through. It is here that I paint my Landscapes, Classic Cars and commissions. Mostly work is done in Watercolour but once in a while a change to Oil or Acrylic is a pleasant distraction.
